haha well i'm finally back with a decent blog ... so what am i up to lately? nothing much, really. i'm failing chemistry. big surprise.
but right NOW ... i'm looking for a new myspace layout. something that's different, you know? something that's ... well, me! which makes me think, you know? how is ANY layout "me" unless i design it myself? and seeing as i am not very good with the whole html thing ... i can't do that. so i have to settle for using someone else's interpretation of "me", or a similar interpretation as to one i would make.
that's bogus.
why do you have to have a layout at all? why can't it just be Facebook style (and no, i'm not paid to advertise Facebook. although at least they don't read my profile and target-advertise to me ...)? i don't get layouts. i very rarely keep the same one for much more than a month. it gets to me. if it was up to me, i'd change it daily! unfortunately (or thankfully, i'm not sure yet) that's not a very plausible idea, so i'll stick to changing it whenever the hell i feel like it. this has seemed to work pretty okay up until now.
but the thing with choosing a new myspace layout is that its always hard to pick one that's not going to get you retarded stereotypes. i mean, i had one once that had cute little skulls or x's or something on it, but i had found it under "emo layouts". now, i'm going to level with you: i'm not emo. emo is just a word, a word that society has totally twisted around to refer to someone in skinny jeans and tons of eyeliner. i wear eyeliner. lots of it. one of my friends commented the other day that i wouldn't have to spend so much on eyeliner if i "didn't put so damn much on". mad props to my girl for pointing out the obvious.
it should be, should be, apparent that i act like i act and think like i do because i feel like it. i have skinny jeans (not that i can wear them right now, my damn foots still to swollen from surgery). somedays i wear them. normally with my Live On Arrival tshirt and a totally great plaid bandana. sometimes even with *gasp* a spikey belt. but otherdays, i pull on my cream cashmere sweater over a pair of light wash straightleg jeans, throw on a little lip gloss and mascara and go.
but i digress. what i'm trying to emphasize is that myspace isn't about being "emo" or "punk" or "prep" or whatever the hell else you want to label people. its about connecting with people all around the world. that's what it was designed for. not ... who can get the most picture comments from their fake friends wanting comments back so they can look popular too.
i'm going to keep being genuine with people. i'll keep being honest with my friends. and yes. i call them friends. sure, i may not have met them all, but some of them are nicer to me and more understanding than half the people i see everyday. so you think that's lame? knock yourself out. this is me not giving a damn.
and you know what? while i'm on the subject of angsty ranting ... i just read Juan Mann's latest blog entry. you know, the Free Hugs guy? ya, his landlord is evicting him because too many people have been stopping by to encourage him. like ... jerkface much? come on people, the guy just wants to make a difference. why do visionaries like Juan always get burned the most?
that's also bogus.
so it's my humble opinion that people should stop focusing on their own little bubble and start thinking about how to make the world a better place. or at least shut the hell up. that would be useful for those of us who are trying. let's be honest people, how many of us have captioned a picture "i don't know if this one's so great" just so that people would respond "it's great! i love it. it's my favorite. can i own?" i know i have. and i know for damn sure i'm not alone.
and yes, i'm listening to christmas music. screw you too.

a week in the life ...
07/13
so harry potter and the order of the pheonix (movie) came out last wednesday. me and my cool sister mallory went to see it on friday. it was the bomb. i cried. twice :D that's just what i do during movies. so that was good times. it was different than the book, though. but the book is like ... ----------------------------- that thick. they guy who plays harry potter is such a little cutie, what with his accent and all. british accents are sooooo adorable.
07/14
then on saturday i hung out with my cousin shay and my cool morden friends brett and trav and my cute saskatchewan friend dev. i haven't seen him since last summer and it was cool to see how *almost* tall he's gotten. it's kind of funny, i can probably make as many short jokes about him as i want because he'll never read this. he's not cool enough for myspace, he's only on netlog. losers.but seriously, he's the same height as me, and i'm 5'5". i'm kind of average for a girl, but for a guy ... well he's kinda little. but he's super toned, he walked around without a shirt for the whole evening, and i'm sure he was just showing off. he's got an ego problem like that ...
07/15
sunday i hung out with shay again. we were in a will smith mood, so we watched wild wild west and hitch. and then we started harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban. but we didn't get finished cause her parents got home. oh and we stole the truck and went to my dad's place and kidnapped munchies. irregardless.
07/16
yesterday i worked (blah). getting up at 8 to stock shelves from 9 to 6 is very much not where i will be my whole life. it's a job though ... i only worked until 4:30, so i suppose i should be thankful. i had a doctor's appointment with this specialist, and he's agreed to operate on my feet. so we booked the left foot first, cause it's kinda worse.and then i went to the opera house for this play thinger i'm in. i only have a small part, but i asked for a small one cause i don't have the time to be a main. so i chill offstage most of the time, but it's all good.
07/17
today! i slept until 2 cause i didn't have to work :D ate, watched tv, and now i'm online. haven't done a whole lot, but that's okay
07/20
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. there really aren't any words to how excited i am about this book release. i mean, come on, i've invested damn near a decade of my life into this series, it's kind of surreal that it's actually almost over. it's strange, but i feel like i'm losing something close to me, and i'm not even sure why. i guess this is what it felt like when c.s. lewis died, and people realized there wouldn't be any more chronicles of narnia books. i dunno ...

My Songs
Eight songs. Just eight. But those eight songs are the most amazing songs in the world to me, either because they remind me of someone I love, or because they have powerful lyrics. Sometimes, when I'm in an emo enough mood, I'll set it to repeat and cry through the whole playlist a few times. :) That doesn't happen very often, though.
1. Paperthin Hymn - Anberlin
It's a beautiful song. I got it from a dear friend of mine, someone who knows my taste in music startlingly well. The music video is very moving.
2. Stolen - Dashboard Confessional
I think it goes without saying that this is a great song. You have stolen my heart? Come on. If a guy sang this song to me, I would melt, then pass out, then be in love with him forever :) I'm not too hard to please.
3. Lightning Crashes - Live
One of my best friend's favorite songs. He's got okay taste in music (:P kidding darling, I love your music). He made me listen to it once, and he kind of got me hooked. It doesn't have the same sentimental value that it has for him, but its a good song and it helps me remember that I'm loved.
4. Weapon - Matthew Good Band
Such a powerful song! The lyrics are incredible. I love the guitar riff in the beginning, and how it changes tempo about a minute and a half in. Here by my side, you are destruction.
5. Innocent - Our Lady Peace
This is pretty much my song. I request it at every single dance I go to. FINALLY we have a dj that has it :P Makes me cry when I'm emo. Me and Shayleah scream the lyrics like there's no tomorrow. Because it's/we're awesome like that.
6. Whispers in the Dark - Skillet
The first of 2 Skillet songs on my list. This song makes me remember that I am loved and protected in a way that no other song has ever been able to do. The first time I heard it, I couldn't speak for a few seconds. My love is just waiting to clothe you in crimson roses. The metaphors are stunning.
7. Open Wounds - Skillet
This is a bonus track released with the special edition of one of their CD's. This song makes me cry on a fairly frequent basis. Or it tears deep into my soul and makes me bleed where I'm the most raw. Either way, I can't listen to this song without it impacting me.
8. Promise - Spoken
A simple song with a good beat and an uplifting chorus. Things will get better, this I promise you. Loneliness won't last forever. It's gold. These boys need recognition for recording such a fantastic song. A medal or a Peace Prize or a small island somewhere.
